I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHS Business Services Authority.

The NHSBSA can confirm that where a member of the NHSPS qualifies for the NHS ill-health pension the employer is not liable for any costs. All pension benefits are payable from the NHSPS including any enhanced (ill-health) pension benefits.

Although the NHSBSA may be able to confirm the number ill-health pensions awarded in 2018/19 in respect of employees of Velindre NHS Trust it cannot quantify the long term costs to the NHSPS due to unknown factors such as life expectancy, indexation, etc .
