Request Reference: 8846 Request Date: 22 Oct 2019
Request: Dear it may concern, I which to make a freedom of information request regrading opioid prescriptions. I will be using this information in my GIS master''s studies. The information I which to receive is NSHBSA data regrading prescriptions dispensed in the community. The data range which I need is from April 2015 to March 2018. The data needs to be at a individual level, as seen in the Public Health England''s Dependence and withdrawal associated with some prescribed medicines: an evidence review (sept 2019). I would prefer the data to be in a digital format. The Data will be used in my interdependent study module looking at opioid use in the UK. The data will be used to create GIS maps related to this. I hope this data will help me to find the number of prescription given out, The location of prescription (this will be at county level), the ratio of male and female prescription, The Ratio of different age groups, the type of medication given and dosage. The reason for requesting individual level data is that of April 2015 I am aware of the NHSBSA have included the patients NHS number within prescription data. This will enables an analysis of the number of individuals in receipt of a particular medicine for a particular period, and the ability to link 2 or more prescriptions for an individual means that the duration of continuous prescribing and the co-receipt of different types of medicine by the same individual can be estimated. If further information is required I can be contracted by email or by phone. Many Thanks, [Name Redacted]
