Request: I wonder whether you may be able to help me? I am a consultant cardiologist and on behalf of the training committee of the association of inherited cardiac conditions (AICC) I have been tasked with gathering some information to help benchmark inherited conditions versus other sub-specialities within cardiology. ICCs are an area of enormous unmet need which is seeing exponential growth as a sub-speciality and is set to continue to increase massively in size given the 100,000 genomes project and era of genomics medicine and personalised healthcare. However, the curriculum in cardiology is currently undergoing a review. Therefore to ensure the sustainability and staffing of this grossly under-staffed area and ensure that trainees are able to receive the training that they require we really need to demonstrate a clinical need...and one way of demonstrating this is by comparing the number of advertised consultant posts in this speciality. I would therefore be extremely grateful if you could point me in the direction of someone that may be able to help me define the number of consultant posts advertised in inherited cardiac conditions over the last 12 months versus other cardiac specialities. I am very happy to do the leg work of sifting through the advertised posts myself to audit this, esp as some are advertised as 'consultant cardiologist' and the inherited component will only be placed within the job description. Any help however would be enormously appreciated.
