Request: I am requesting the following request for information under the Freedom of Information Act on exemptions and fines relating to NHS dental charges in in Wales Can you provide information on: 1) The total number of exemptions from charges payment sought, by year from 2010-present. 2) The total number of the above exemptions sought that were rejected and issued with Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) by year from 2010-present. 3) The total number of Penalty Charge Notices that were paid, by year from 2010-present. 4) Total revenue generated by Penalty Charge Notices, by year from 2010-present 5) Of the figures identified in 2 (above) how many of the penalty charges issues were appealed against (that is the patient, or one acting on their behalf present documentation stating that the patient was indeed of exemption status) by year, 2010-Present? 6) How many of these appeals (definition above) identified in 5 (above) resulted in overturning of the charge 2010-present? I would ask if equivalent data for questions 1-6 can be provided covering NHS dental charges in in England. [On 8 February 2019 you clarified the following:] Thanks for your email. I''''m not sure it''''s either a or b really. I was requesting informaton on attempts to claim exemption - rather than tha number you might deem valid - for the ealier questions. So in terms of diminishing numbers: 1) the total number of attempts to claim exemptions, 2) those claims that were deemed invalid and recieved a PCN 3) the total of those PCNs actually paid 4) the total revenue these PCNs raised 5) those PCNs that were appealed, 6) and of those that appealed which were overturned . So would the following changes suffice for both England and Wales?: 1) The total number of attempts made to claim exemptions from charges for dental treatment, by year from 2010-present 2) The total number of attempts to claim exemptions that were rejected and issued with Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) by year from 2010-present.
