Request Reference: 7995 Request Date: 26 Sep 2018
Request: Could you please supply the following information: ‘The information requested is the amount of money deducted from Dental practices due to being claimed more than two months after completion, thereby being disallowed, in England and wales. A break down into the regions of Northern England would be useful. I would like the latest available twelve month period, as close as possible to August 2018. [On 9 October 2018 you clarified the following:]If they are disallowed they are therefore not paid even though the work has been duly completed but unfortunately not transmitted in time to meet the regulatory requirements. In a disallowed capacity they do not contribute to the practice yearly total. If the practice does not meet their yearly total the money is deducted as clawback in the subsequent year. If they do meet their target, the disallowed claims are not carried forward to the next year. In reality a disallowed claim is therefore not paid to the practice. Any money paid by the patient as their contribution to the practice is actually deducted by the BSA from the monthly total, I would classify that as a deduction of charge. I need to know how many claims have therefore been “ disallowed “ for the dates requested and for the areas specified because they were not transmitted within the two months of completion.
