Request Reference: 7627 Request Date: 16 Apr 2018
Request: Sir, I would like you to provide some information to me under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 please. I have had an extremely unpleasant experience dealing with the Prescription Exemption Checking Service and been told by my pharmacist that lots of people who have dealt with them have complained to her of being bullied by them. This is also my experience. Can you please ask them: 1. How many prescription penalty charge notices have you sent in the last 3 years. 2015, 2016, 2017? 2. On how many of those occasions did you send proof of your claim i.e. the prescription in question when making your claim? 3. On how many occasions each year has someone contested your claim? 4. On how many of those occasions when a claim has been contested have you subsequently sent evidence of your claim of not paying the prescription i.e. the prescription itself? 5. On how many occasions have you verified the signature or tick on the prescription as being genuine? 6. On how many occasions have you found the person to be innocent of your charges? 7. On how many occasions when you have found the person innocent have you apologised and offered an explanation as to why you have mistakenly accused them of not paying the prescription charges? 8. How many complaints of bullying, unprofessionalism or suchlike have you received each year on connection with a PCN? I would like to say that I emailed FOI, England (NHS ENGLAND) with this Freedom of Information request (Our Ref: FOI-056036) but they said it was your responsibility to answer this type of FOI request. Sincerely, [name redacted]
